Snow Tubing at Whitetail

Kids just wanna have fun!  Sometimes you have to take a break from volunteering and just enjoy some good old-fashioned fellowship time with your Lutheran friends.  On Sunday Feburary 5, TLYIA took a field trip to Whitetail Ski Resort in Mercersburg for an exciting day of snow tubing.  Even some of the adults got into the action. Enjoy photos and videos from our adventure on the slopes – and join us next time!

CHristmAS SHOPPING FOR LOCAL CHILDREN

On Sunday December 10, youth members and families shopped at Kohl’s in Chambersburg for 5 under-privileged students at JBMS.  Each child received a winter coat, sneakers, socks, hat or gloves, and 2 outfits.  Thanks to profits made at the Caramel Apple Sale and Fair Trade Fair Bake Sale, generous donations by Tuscarora Lutheran members and friends and a $250.00 Thrivent Lutheran gift card, we were able to allot $150.00 per child.  The youth wrapped the gifts and were delivered to JBMS.

Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

During the Fair Trade Event at St. John’s on November 12, youth members and friends packed over 50 shoe boxes for operation Christmas Child!  Items were donated by members of Tuscarora Lutheran and purchased with Thrivent Lutheran gift cards donated by St. Stephen’s members.  The shoeboxes were delivered for distribution to needy children worldwide.

Youth Bake Sale at St. John’s Fair Trade Fair

On Saturday, November 12 a Fair Trade Fair/10,000 Villages Christmas Market was held at St. John’s in Mercersburg.  The Youth Group hosted a bake sale at this event.  Baked goods were donated by members of Tuscarora Lutheran Parish and sold during the 5 hour event.  Cookies, cakes, and other sweets were a big hit.  The Youth profited over $200, which will be used for current and future youth missions.

Fall Festival at Camp Nawakawa

Sunday, October 23 marked a fun day out for Tuscarora Lutheran Youth in Action.  Parish youth joined fellow Lutherans at Camp Nawakwa for their Annual Fall Festival.  Bus travel was generously donated and provided by St. John’s member Tom Gift. Mr. Gift and his son chauffeured the group in style; picking up the youth and their families at St. John’s and St. Stephen’s respectively.  Once at Nawakwa, we hiked through the wooded trails, piled in a wagon for a festive hayride, toured the grounds and toasted marshmallows.  The event concluded with an outdoor worship service and catered meal.
